While college is an investment in your future, it is no secret that the cost of college is a sizeable financial proposition. In addition to figuring out how to pay for college, managing credit or debit cards, knowing how to create a budget, and developing an emergency fund can all seem daunting. The Board of Regents, State of Iowa has asked the three public institutions in Iowa (Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa) to develop a course to help students make smart financial decisions now and after college.
We are looking for 500 volunteers to participate in a pilot financial literacy program in Spring 2017. The program offers four on-line modules to set you up for financial success. In addition, you will also have access to peer mentors and financial literacy experts to guide you through the material. It is anticipated that you can easily complete the modules over a four week period.
Participants will be entered into drawings for cash prizes after the completion of each module and after submitting an evaluation of the training. We hope you will join us in creating this new initiative.
Enrollment in this pilot is closed.
