Peer Financial Educators

Cyclone CashCourse Peer Financial Educators are undergraduate students who have experiences navigating financial aid and money management as a student. The Educators will be reaching out to participating students throughout the training with timely reminders and encouragement. The educators will also be available at various locations across campus for one-on-one meetings to discuss any questions that might arise during the training and assist in understanding the material.

If you are looking for a way to help your peers, a Peer Financial Educator job may suite you. We are hiring Peer Financial Educators to assist with Cyclone CashCourse. Up to 10 educators will be hired.

Educators will be responsible for outreach to the students, conducting peer-to-peer financial counseling sessions, promoting Cyclone CashCourse across campus and conduct evening workshops. Educators will be assigned to staff office hours for students to easily ask questions about the material covered in the training, to turn in worksheets or to complete activities which expand on the online materials.

These positions are temporary with expected training beginning in August and continuing until October with a final end date to be determined. Training will be held the week classes resume in August with regular, weekly hours beginning around September 3, 2018 continuing until the end of the training. Educators will be expected to attend the training sessions the first week of classes in August which may amount to up to 8 hours of paid training.

Preference is given to junior and senior undergraduate students from the Financial Counseling and Planning program or College of Business but all applicants will be considered. Required skills include strong communication skills and the ability to understand and explain financial concepts like budgeting, credit and responsible student loan borrowing. Applicants must have their own laptop for use during work, possess the ability to work independently, have strong customer service skills, and the ability to perform detailed and accurate work. Peer Educators will earn $10/hour and work an average of 12 hours a week. Please complete our employment application by April 6th.
